Paramore Bounce Back After “Hard Times”

by Deanna Romani

Early Wednesday morning, pop-punk veterans Paramore released the first single off of their most anticipated upcoming album, After Laughter.

After Laughter marks the first album since the departure of bassist Jeremy Davis and re-addition of the band’s original drummer, Zac Farro. The trio now boast a very colorful, synth-driven energy with a somewhat-tropical feel that totally works.

If bands like The 1975 and Fall Out Boy can stray away from their rockier roots, why can’t Paramore? The incredibly catchy single, “Hard Times,” is quite the departure from the heavy drums and chuggy guitar sounds on their earlier albums, but as bands grow and evolve as people, the music does too.

Paramore’s fifth studio album, After Laughter, is available May 12th on Fueled By Ramen. Pre-order it here.
