Boo! Arizona Brings the Bass!

By Braeden Mueller

Boo! Arizona is bringing the bass infused lineup to Phoenix on October 15. The lineup from top to bottom brings the heaviest hitting names to Rawhide with Knife Party, Excision, Snails, Ghastly, G Jones, Nghtmre, and Wuki. One can expect to be headbanging, and the barrier will be rocking with this star-studded lineup. Breaking down this lineup artist by artist, let’s take a look at what to expect and who is the must see set of the weekend.

Bringing the future bass, Wuki breaks all the barriers of music. One of the most talented producers in the EDM world, he recently remixed The Chainsmokers’ hit single “Closer” which involves a heavy bass drop with a bass house feel. His new single “Make It Clap” includes a new sound that is making Wuki so sought after an infusion of trap and bass house. Expect bass house and a mixture of trap with this set.

Bringing a massive trap sound, Nghtmre gained fame through his remix of Showtek’s “We Like To Party” which infused his signature big room trap sound. He has not looked back with his string of recent releases which include “ Need You,” “Feel Your Love,” “Frontlines,” and “Click Clack.” His songs are supported by Diplo, Dj Carnage, and Dj Snake which signifies his massive hits. This set is the must see set of the weekend, and you will not be disappointed in the Trap god blessing Rawhide with the dirty drops and mixes that will have us jumping all night long.

G Jones

Inspired by Bassnectar, G Jones will be bringing his euphoric bass set to our ears. His psychedelic sound will have the crowd in a trance as the heavy bass will soothe our soul. Collaborating with Bassnectar on many occasions, G Jones’ hit song “Thunderdome” is the perfect song to understand what G Jones will bring. Performing at Basscenter this year with Bassnectar should be enough to figure out that G Jones is the future of psychedelic bass.

Ghastly’s experimental sound is one that is truly unique. Mixing dubstep, bass house, and future bass Ghastly’s hit “666” with Getter hits all of these criteria. His most recent single “Fuk Watchu Think” involves a heavy dubstep drop with an up-tempo beat. One can’t predict what exactly his set will entail but if one had to guess it’d be bass heavy everything.

Slime City is coming to the Valley of the Sun. Snails will undoubtedly bring the filth with him. Collaborating with the likes of Big Gigantic, Flux Pavilion, and Pegboard Nerds this man has done it all. He plays only the filthy dubstep songs that will get everyone grooving to the bass. This bass will be different than any other though, this one is deep and has tons of “shakiness.”  Listen to his new single “Cannonball” with Flux Pavilion, to truly understand what the slime is.

The undisputed king of dubstep, Excision is bringing the robot bass to Phoenix. Caution, it will be “X-Rated” when he comes on the stage, and all the headbangers will be rocking the barrier for this set. Famous for his sound, Excision plays all dubstep and bass heavy music that sticks with your soul. The entire crowd will be head banging and be throwing their “X’s,” as the “X” is his famous symbol for all his shows.

Knife Party

What hasn’t Knife Party done in EDM? Their debut EP “100% No Modern Talking” was downloaded over 50,000 times in 12 hours. Since then, their major hit “Internet Friends-VIP” has been played over 29,000,000 times. Other major hits include “Bonfire,” “LRAD,” and their new release “Battle Sirens” all have their signature bass sound. Headlining Ultra Music Festival, Knife Party brings a bass infused, and heavy energy bass set that will stay with the crowd weeks after the conclusion of the event. Expect bass house and heavy bass songs that will have the crowd in a frenzy throughout the entire set.
