A$AP Ferg Encourages Fans to “Always Strive and Prosper” on New Album

by Taylor Freds

I have always said that I am not the biggest fan of rap. With A$AP Ferg’s new album “Always Strive and Prosper,” that holds true, even though I have contradicted myself many times before.

There were a few songs on this album that I liked, but overall I did not think the music was up to par. One of the things that bugged me the most about this album was it had too many “scripts.” The album was short at the beginning with only 18 tracks, but four of them ending up being scripts that were 30 seconds and shorter. This made the album feel really short and made some of the songs feel like they were interrupted half way through.

The songs on this album that I did like were: “Strive” and “Let You Go.” I really liked “Strive” because it has a really good message behind the song. I believe the message from “Strive” is that if you try and put in a little hard work you can be successful. It encompasses the message of the album as a whole, encouraging sticking out the struggles to achieve your goals.

“You can be you today
You can be you tonight
Know you’re feeling really great
It’s going to be alright
I can see it in your face
And I know you wanna fly
So get off your ass
And create your life”

-Strive by A$AP Ferg

As for “Let You Go,” I enjoyed the beat, produced by Stargate—one of the several collaborators.

Overall, I think that if you are a fan of rap than you should definitely check out this album. If you do like A$AP Ferg’s album “Always Strive and Prosper” then I suggest you check out other artists like Krayzie Bone, Tech N9ne and Eminem. Enjoy the new album!
